Porcelain Gaia
This weekend on a Saturday morning, Gaia and I got up earlier than we'd like to making some wonderful photographs together. This was the first time I ever met Gaia, and I have always wanted to meet this amazing girl. I am very happy with these images, especially with all of the heirlooms which made these photographs even more of a treasure to me. Let me explain with the first photograph shown.
The tea set on the stool was my Great Aunt Thera's, which my Great Grandmother Ellis gave her. What was really great was I found a photograph inside the tea pot of my Great Grandmother Ellis and in the background was that very tea set. The photograph was made in 1972. The scarf wrapped around the dried roses (which I gave my mom for her birthday) was my Grandmother Rebecca's. The doll at the bottom of the stool on the far left is my mom's, and I am unsure of how old it is, but I know it is quite the antique. The teddy bear beside it I gave my mom when I was a little girl. The largest doll with the pink dress was mine. When I was really little, I used to carry it around everywhere. The bear on the right is actually my Winthrop University bear, but I took off the t-shirt it usually wears just for this occasion. This location is a field right beside St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gilbert, SC, where the majority of my mom's family is buried, including my Great Grandmother Ellis, Grandmother Rebecca, and where my Great Aunt Thera will be buried.

Gaia has such a classy and beautiful face. I hope to photograph her a lot more in the future.
A great thanks goes to Gaia for modeling for me at an early hour and also braving it being sick and in the chilly weather. Just so you know, I still really love the outfit... especially the boots and corset!
